Help Documentation

If you are visiting this page, it's likely you've received a text message on your cell phone. Perhaps you have a question about this message, and why you are receiving it? Or perhaps you'd like to know more about our service?

Either way, we've put together a list of the most common questions and presented them below. if your question has not been addressed, please do contact us at and let us know.

1. Why have I received this message?

You have subscribed to this service by sending a text containing a single unique word (we call this a word a "textword") to a long code (a 10-digit number) associated with this account, and then confirming your intent to receive messages via a double opt in.

What if you did not subscribe?

You could also have been imported into our service by a business owner, professional service provider or some sort of organization that claims to have a relationship with you (we do not allow our customers to import individuals with whom they do not have an existing relationship into their accounts).

In order for a business order to import you into our system, that business owner must have completed a business transaction with you within the last 2 or 3 years (Canada), depending on whether that last transaction occured before or after July 1, 2014.

All imported contacts still have to "double opt-in" and confirm their subscription, regardless of written consent.

In other words, someone has to use the phone in question and respond "Y" to a text message invitation before messages can be received from the business in question.

If you are certain you did not give your express permission to be contacted via cell phone, double check that someone else in your household has not used your phone to sign up for the service.

Did you get a new phone?

If so, it's possible you have received a "recycled" phone number from your mobile service provider, and the previous owner opted into a service on our system. Although Local Text Marketers has procedures in place to ensure messages are delivered only to the original subscriber and owner of the phone number, please do unsubscribe by responding to any message from our system with the word STOP (not case sensitive) if you have obtained a recycled number recently.

2. How do I unsubscribe from receiving any more text messages?

Just respond to any message sent from our system with the word "STOP".

3. I have tried responding to a text, and I keep getting the message, "There is no service associated with that entry. Please try again. One way communication only.Help: & 8003788507."

Local Text Marketers is a one-way service only. Our customers can send you notifications, updates, discounts, coupons and so on, but you cannot respond to these messages (well, you can, but your messages are not delivered), since we offer a one-way communication only.

4. I have tried subscribing to a merchant on this service, but cannot. What's up with that?

If you are getting the "Oops! There is no service associated with that entry" message, it means one of two things...

If you are trying to subscribe to a service and you are not receiving any response at all, it can mean one of several things...

5. Will I be charged for using this service?

No. We do not charge you to interact with any of the businesses that use our service, nor do they charge you. If you do incur a cost, that charge will be levied by your carrier for the text messages you use while interacting with businesses using our system.

6. What does "Std msg & data rates may apply mean"?

What it means is that any of the of the usual charges levied by your mobile carier for the sending and receiving of text messages will apply. If you have a cell phone plan where all your text message are free, it costs nothing to use the service.

If, on the other hand, you pay a penny per text message, those regular charges will apply to any of the messages sent into and received from our system. Once again, it is your cell phone company who places these charges, not us.

It does not mean that we - or any of the businesses or services using our system - charge you for interacting with them.

7. I tried to unsubscribe from receiving messages from a merchant and I got a message that says that I am on multiple lists. How do I unsubscribe from the right list?

If you are signed up to receive multiple subscriptions, you will need to tell us which business (also called "lists") you want to unsubscribe from - and it's quite easy to do.

Your message looks something like this...

You are on 3 (or 2, or 4, etc) lists. Reply:
0 to stop "name of list 1"
1 to stop "name of list 2"
2 to stop "name of list 3"
STOPALL stops all.

If you want to unsubscribe from list / business #1, reply 0. That's it, 0. Just hit zero and then send. That will remove you from that business' database. If you want to unsubscribe from list / business #2, just type in 1 and hit reply. And so on. To remove yourself from all lists, respond STOPALL (not case sensitive).

8. I tried to subscribe to a service and got the message "this account has been paused temporarily. Please try again later." What does that mean?

The business in question has an account on our service, but it has been placed on hold temporarily. The business will need to activate their account in order for the account to be functional again.
